School History

Whitehall National School is a co-educational Catholic school under the patronage of Bishop Kevin Doran, the Bishop of Elphin. Our school has a strong Catholic ethos but we welcome children of all religions and none. We strive to provide an inclusive, caring, happy and safe environment to all while also looking after the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of our pupils. We currently have five mainstream class teachers, two SET teachers, one SNA and a part-time secretary.

The building of Whitehall National School, previously known as Corraun National School, began under the direction of Fr. Eugene White P.P. and the parish church and parochial house were also constructed at this time. The original school building dates back to 1892, where it consisted of two classrooms, the boys in one room and the girls in the other. There were major renovations to the school in 1965 and there have been a number of extensions over the years, with the latest extension built on in 2017.
